Each year, benefits will change slightly based on cost of living adjustments and taxes; however, for 2017, you can expect the following major changes to have a direct effect on your Social Security:

  • Earnings test thresholds have increased. Individuals who reach full retirement age after 2017 will see a threshold of $16,920. Those that reach retirement age by at least 2017 can see a threshold of $44,880.
  • Taxable earnings have increased to $127,200
  • Cost of living has adjusted by 0.3%
